Skilled Visa Australia – Skilled – Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
This visa provides permanent residency and comes with a range of requirements, including that you are required to be qualified and experienced in an occupation that is in high demand and also on the ‘Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
There is a range of tests that need to be taken, including a skills assessment. This works on a points system with the minimum being 65 points – due to the high demand, a much higher number is generally required to avoid a lengthy delay.
You must also meet the requirements for Registration in Australia of any professional bodies you are required to be part of as terms of the employment.
The good news is that, once you obtain a Skilled-Independent Visa, you are able to remain in Australia permanently and seek your own employment.

PROVIDES: Permanent Residency
This is a class of visa where you are required to be sponsored by a State or Territory Government as you are in an occupation or have a skill in demand.
Some mandatory requirements apply, including the Points Test, however, State sponsorship provides additional points.
Applicants apply for Sponsorship from the relevant government (they publish a document that indicates the occupations most in demand each year) and, if successful, are obliged to work within that State or Territory for an agreed period of time.

More occupation groups are able to qualify for the 190. Sure, it is slightly easier to obtain, however, eligibility is still quite strict.
